Autobooks Aerobooks, the largest and oldest automotive bookstore in the United States, is the one place you want to be on Saturday mornings! At 9am, this amazing Magnolia store kicks off the weekend with their die hard customers and their amazing vehicles. Founded in 1951 by Harry Morrow, Autobooks Aerobooks has been growing with Burbank for more than 60 years. It wasn’t until the 1980’s that the Aerobooks side was added to the store, and in 2008 their complete inventory became available for sale online.

This bookstore is now occupying a wide corner location, with side parking spaces, and two black and white checkered flags waving above the door. Not only can you pick up any kind of vehicle book here, but they also sell DVDs, magazines, calendars, hat pins, belt buckles, collectibles, and jewelry. Autobooks Aerobooks also sells gift cards perfect for that special car lover in your life.





Books are organized and cataloged on shelves by automotive type, country, and brand. This place has literally got anything and everything you want, and if they don’t then they are always taking suggestions. Pam MacD's Gluten Free Market had their ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony on May 20th, revealing the largest of its kind in Southern California. Many people came down to support the store and welcome them into the beautiful Magnolia Park district in Burbank, CA.








At 38, C.E.O and founder Pam MacDonald developed Celiac disease, an autoimmune condition that affects 1 out of every 133 people in the United States. At the time MacDonald was diagnosed, gluten-free products were almost nonexistent, and now demand is increasing and manufacturers are growing.

Gluten is a protein composite that appears in food processed from wheat, giving an elastisity to the dough and helping it rise. There are many people struggling with gluten allergies, and recent studies on autistic spectrum disorders have revealed that a gluten-free diet may be beneficial. Although most markets carry these special products, gluten-free consumers find it hard to get what they need all in one place.

Pam MacD's offers a wide selection of grocery items all under one roof, including breads, pastas, sauces, cereals, chips, ice cream, pizza, snacks, yogurt, cookies, and gourmet sandwiches and salads by executive Los Angeles caterer, Heirloom. For those who are not in need of gluten free products, there are still lots of healthy snacks for all ages. Familiar brands like Kind bars and Annie's bunnies line the shelves, as well as new and featured items like baked cheese krisps by Thin Krisps.











Their selections are wide and large, with multiple dry aisles and a frozen aisle with waffles, veggie burgers, ice cream, baked veggie sticks, and more. You can even grab some organic, gluten and soy free, vegan body products. Pam MacD's has a little of everything.

Next to The Banshee, sits a small antique store, waiting to be discovered. Owned by Ralph Pearsinger and wife Kim Grieve, Burbank Antiques specializes in Baby Boomer collectibles, fine art, and vintage records. A Baby Boomer refers to someone born between the demographic birth boom of 1946 to 1964, and Pearsinger’s shop carries all the items that were popular during those years. Just like other antique spots, this three year old shop buys, trades, and sells items.



Pearsinger is the lunch box expert. With over 2000 lunch boxes in his at home collection, 200 for sale in his Burbank shop, and 300 at an antique mall called Olde Towne Pomona, he knows these antique treasures like the back of his hand. These collectibles range from about $45 to over $1000, including one of the most valuable lunch boxes, Toppie the Elephant, which recently sold on eBay for $6,287.50. This exact Toppie box is sitting in the store right now at a much lower cost.











The rarest boxes are kept up on a shelf and out of reach, while others are neatly displayed in glass cases, and stacked up on shelves. They range from a variety of eras, including all the way back to the first pails in 1912. Back then the tin boxes were printed with tobacco or lard advertisements, and you can see these historic pails in the store, including a Round Trip box used when Roosevelt was in office.



Some lunch boxes that Burbank Antiques carries are: The Lone Ranger, Peter Pan, Star Wars, Disneyland, Julia, The Waltons, Wild Bill Hickok, Batman, Popeye, Lawman, Hopalong Cassidy, Woody Woodpecker, The Flying Man, Space Cadet, Snoopy, Superman, and much much MORE.





Burbank antiques also has a wide variety of other Baby Boomer items and collectibles including gumball machines, rotary phones, vinyl records, neon signs, tin signs, Harley Davidson collectibles, Bob’s Big Boy memorabilia, and old cameras. You can also find very unique soda glasses from In’N’Out Burger, made in the late 70’s. These glasses all have different cartoon characters and superheroes on them, and customers were able to get their soda in them instead of a disposable cup for a small extra fee.











Burbank Antiques will be featured on an upcoming episode of A&E’s hit show Storage Wars, when one of the buyers brings in an item to check its value. Walking into this antique store reminds me of another TV show on the History channel called American Pickers. The tin hanging thermometers, and Coca Cola memorabilia are exactly the items, pickers Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz would grab from the back roads of Mississippi and Alabama.







Magnolia Blvd. has these things right at your fingertips and at a reasonable cost too. Burbank Antiques has everything collectors are looking for, and Pearsinger is very knowledgeable in this type of antique genre. Most of his items are brought in from customers, which he then hand prices himself. This antique store is a must see, and definitely a hidden gem on Burbank’s beautiful Magnolia Blvd.

Tiffini, nicknamed the “Mad Scientist,” opened up her cupcake bakery in 2004 with her husband Nik, and mother Brogan, and has now created over 300 one-of-a-kind cupcake flavors ranging from Green Tea Wasabi, Pancakes & Bacon, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Lemon Tobasco, Mango Lime Chili & Salt, Strawberry Balsamic, 7-Up, Chocolate Basil, Sour Patch Kids, and Lemon Pinot Grigo.










Yummy Cupcakes also holds lots of classic flavors dashed with a clever twist, such as Raspberry Red Velvet, Espresso Blast, and Strawberry Shortcake. Every day is different, with five flavors rotated per day, and a list of combinations that will be served all month long. You can pick up a daily calendar for each month as it comes along, and that can be found in stores as well as online in their cupcake menu.

There are many things that make Yummy Cupcakes unique, but what makes it universal is their attempt to incorporate everyone in enjoying one of their cupcakes. Each class offers hands on training by a Chef instructor, who will also teach tips, tricks, and techniques. Each class will specialize in two flavors, which students will bake from scratch, including the frosting, and then decorate with their new learned techniques. Each student gets to take at least a dozen cupcakes home and receive a gift card for a future visit.

Yummy Cupcakes is not hard to find, with its striped awnings, and bright pink curtains painted onto the wide glass windows. Once inside, the location is very large, and split into two stores. The left is the bakery, where trays of cupcakes are on display for your choosing, and to the left is anything and everything cupcake! Greeting cards, local paintings, jewelry, clothing for women and toddlers, aprons, cupcake boxes, and more.














These cupcakes aren’t just good looking, they’re extremely tasty too. After one bite, you’ll be begging for more. This contemporary clothing store lured me in the second I laid eyes on the rocker dressed manequin waving me in at the door. With art flooding the walls, and unique accessories scattered on tables and countertops, this store is a one stop shop for everything 90’s. Although they carry vintage, and retro clothing, it is their contemporary racks that make this store stand out amongst the rest. From Nirvanna to New Found Glory, owner Holly Hornstein has it all.









Reaching her one year anniversary of opening the store, Horstein has built herself a unique and satisfying collection of all hand picked items by hers truly. The store is always changing, and Hornstein is always shopping for more to add. Racks are organized by the type of article, such as skirts, jackets, and tees. And check out all their shoes against the back wall, including boots, sneakers, flats, and heels. Although everything is resale, everything is in great condition, and the prices are extremely affordable.







As much as the clothes changes, so does the artwork. 33 Rooms has opened their walls to featured artists, where you can find original paintings, photographs, and even hand made dolls, called alphaRabbits, by Hornstein. The rabbits are custom made out of sweatshirts that you can bring in to be transformed into rad pieces of art. They are available in the store as well as online at hollyjean.wordpress.com/alpharabbits. Also check out the art currently displayed at 33 Rooms by Will Sampson and Brett Gilbert.







You can visit 33 rooms during the monthly Ladies Night Out Event. On the last friday of every month, local Magnolia stores collaborate in offering discounts and gifts, and the stores stay open later while accompanied by an array of food trucks. Hornstein sometimes has a live D.J in the store during the event.

Fun Fact: Holly Hornstein named her shop 33 rooms after her favorite number, 33, and one of her favorite art projects called 99 rooms.
